Reformation Sunday: Next week we join with Lutheran Churches around the world to celebrate the birth of the Reformation. Our denomination’s namesake, Martin Luther, started the protestant reformation in Germany in 1521. In honor of that world changing event, we invite folks to wear something red...traditionally the color of the paraments and pastor’s stole will be red as well. It is a fun way to join in the celebration. Hope to see you next week.

Thanksgiving Food Boxes. We will be passing out food collection bags Sunday, October 17 and continue each Sunday until November 7. We ask that you fill the bag with groceries and return it to the church. All the food collected will be given to needy families. Because of the present economy and the many needs of families, we are asking that you be as generous as possible to help those in need. Your donations will be gratefully appreciated.

Sundays @ 6: Anyone interested in spending some quality time with God and others in prayer is invited to the chapel at 6pm each Sunday evening. We have time for individual, group and intercessory prayer. This month we are learning to pray the Psalms. Join us for a time of personal renewal.

Open Door: Want to start studying the Bible, but don’t know where to begin? The Open Door is a warm and welcoming Bible study meeting on Sunday mornings in room 2C at 9:30 (with Kevin Hutchinson and Nelly Dumas) and at 11:00 (with Ken and Carol Larson) starting Oct. 3. This fall they will be digging into the Gospel of Mark. Don’t miss it! For more information, email Kevin at kdhutchinson@cox.net.

Do you want to learn how to crochet! Come to the Luv’n Stitches meeting on Monday, October 25 at 6:30pm in Room 4. We will be learning how to read a pattern and will make hats for the homeless. 50s Let’s Dine Out will be at Lindo Michoacan, 645 Carnegie at Horizon Ridge in Henderson, at 6pm on Thursday, October 28. Please join us for good food and great fellowship. You may call Don Flower, 436-9127, or Pat and Emil Lippert, 361-3983, to make reservations.

“Step By Step” Grief Support Group: Are you overwhelmed by grief over the loss of a loved one? You don’t need to bear that burden alone. Grief is one of the most painful emotions of life and feels like a big hole in your heart. Our Grief Support Group meets every 2nd and 4th Monday evenings at CLC from 6:30-8:00pm in Room 108. It is open to all who have experienced the death of a loved one. Why not join our informal group. There is a seat waiting for you. Cookbook For Sale: The 2010 edition of the Community Lutheran Cookbook is available for purchase. This beautiful edition contains over 300 recipes from our members and friends. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of these cookbooks will be donated to the Grace Unleashed debt reduction campaign. Thanks to the 50 Plus leadership group and Elizabeth Brenner and her family for making this resource available to CLC.

Children’s Ministry

Kids’ Connection Sunday School ~ 9:30 and 11am: From Pre-K through 4th grade.

Sunday School
Sunday school at 9:30 and 11:00am is for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Sign your children in at the Community Center Desk in the Crossroads. After a brief time of worship with parents in the sanctuary, children will go downstairs to Kids Connect for Sunday school. Please check by the receptionist window when picking up your children.

TNT ~ Thursday Nights Together
6:00-7:30 ~ Son Shine (Kindergarten - 2nd grade)
6:00-7:30 ~ Son Blast (3rd grade - 5th grade)
6:00-7:30 ~ Son Explosion (6th grade)
Family Dinner served at 5:00pm

Trunk or Treat this Thursday, October 28 at 6:00pm. Bring the whole family to this exciting annual event. Come in costume and enjoy a safe evening of games, food, fun and of course treat collecting. Those who are going to provide decorated trunks with treats to hand out, please have your cars ready to go in the parking lot in back of the church by 6:00pm. The children will parade from the church to the parking lot at 6:30pm. Thank you to all the participants.

Childrens Christmas Musical: Christmas is only twelve weeks away! Can you believe it? We are planning a Christmas musical to be performed at our 3:00pm Christmas Eve service. All who are interested in participating in any way, please contact Flo Hillman at 349-6479.

Emerging Generations Ministry
(Youth Ministry)

TheResurgence: This group for 9th grade to 22 year olds will kick off the new year Thursday, October 7 at 6:00 pm in the CLC Sanctuary. Join us for an evening of awesome worship and fellowship. The meeting place for the following weeks will be Room 9.

Junior High Activities

Awaken Confirmation: All 7th, 8th, and 9th graders are invited to join Awaken Confirmation. The signup begins on Thursday October 7 from 6pm to 7:45pm in the sanctuary for parents and teens. It is going to be a great year, so make plans now to be part of this weekly Thursday evening experience. No previous experience necessary!
